Commonly known in perth as “the sound”, this somewhat protected part of the ocean is a nursing ground for many Demersal species such as snapper and dhufish. Although there is a closer season for these fish, it’s definitely worth checking out in the open season.
There is a large variety of species that can be targeted in safety even from some of the smallest boats.
There are large numbers of squid, whiting, herring amongst other fish in the shallows in close.
There is a healthy squid population in the sound. Look for broken up weeds and sandy bottoms. Some jigs that regularly produce squid are the white shimano sephia in size 3 in most conditions and the more natural colours on bright sunny days.
