3 Mile Reef is a great spot which is close to shore and accessible to most boats including smaller tinny’s. The reef is broken up with a few islands and very shallow bommies. Care needs to be taken when fishing this spot as rogue waves can really catch you off guard.
3 Mile hold a variety of species from Herring right up through to the odd Spanish Mackerel. The key to this spot is to use your sounder and find either holes or rocky outcrops. There are also countless numbers of undesirable species such as wrasse, but typically these fish stay in the shallower parts.
